The 4 stars Exeter Hotel opened in August 2018 in a complex of new and rebuilt buildings that were designed as a hotel from the start. The hotel draws its name from the Exeter house which was originally built in 1904 and has now been rebuilt with an additional floor as a part of the hotel complex.

The Exeter Hotel has an industrial look and feels with open spaces, sharp colors, and mixtures of textures that blend well with modern facilities right by Reykjavik’s Old Harbor which is still bustling with activity. Architects Richard Blurton and Sigurður Halldórsson from Gláma-Kím Architects designed the hotel and the artwork is by Hrafnkell Sigurðsson.
