Our journey began at the cozy Exeter hotel in Reykjavik, where the excitement hung thick in the air. From there, we set our sights on the breathtaking Kleifarvatn lake, a scene straight out of a fairy tale. With Valdi from Pink Iceland weaving his magic, a picturesque picnic awaited us, adding a sprinkle of enchantment to the wintry landscape.
Feeling adventurous, I decided to push the boundaries of my craft and experimented with drone photography for the first time. The result? A series of stunning shots capturing Katrina and Reid's love from a unique perspective, framed against the rugged Icelandic terrain.
But as any great adventure goes, ours hit a snag on the road back to Reykjavik. Our trusty vehicle found itself stuck in the snow, a hiccup we faced head-on with improvisation and a replacement ride, leaving Valdi behind to tackle the snowy obstacle.
Yet, the real highlight awaited us—a mountaintop ceremony reached by helicopter, where love truly took flight. Against the backdrop of Iceland's majestic vistas, Katrina and Reid exchanged vows, their love soaring as high as the helicopter blades above.
But our adventure wasn't over just yet. We ventured to the site of a recent volcanic eruption, navigating the hardened lava fields with a mix of awe and exhilaration. It was here that Katrina's dress met its match in the form of hot steam, adding a touch of humor to our already unforgettable day.
As I look back on Katrina and Reid's elopement, I'm reminded of the magic that unfolds when love meets adventure in the heart of Iceland. It was a day filled with laughter, awe, and moments that will be cherished for a lifetime. And through it all, I'm grateful for the opportunity to have captured the raw, untamed beauty of their love amidst the wild wonders of Iceland. In February 2024, my husband and I eloped in Iceland, and we were blessed to have Laimonas from Sunday & White Studio as our photographer.
To be completely honest, my husband and I aren't exactly what you'd call "naturally photogenic," but somehow, Laimonas worked his magic and captured images of us that were simply out of this world, perfectly reflecting our goofy sides.
From the very beginning of the day, as he snapped shots of our "getting ready" moments, to spontaneously pulling over on the roadside to capture the majestic snowy Icelandic mountains as our backdrop, to skillfully maneuvering a drone to capture breathtaking aerial shots by a tranquil lake, Laimonas exceeded all expectations. He even provided much-needed emotional support during our nerve-wracking helicopter ride, instantly putting us at ease.
His talent truly shone as he immortalized the magical moments of us exchanging vows atop a mountain and navigating an active lava field (where, yes, my dress may have melted). And let's not forget his ingenious idea of utilising a puddle in the helicopter parking lot, resulting in one of our absolute favourite photos.
The next morning, by 10 am, we were utterly blown away to receive a sneak peek of 70 stunning photos. This unexpected treat allowed us to share our joy with family and friends as soon as we returned from our elopement. We will forever cherish the memories captured by Laimonas and Sunday & White Studio.
I can't emphasise enough how grateful we are for Laimonas' talent, professionalism, and kindness throughout our special day. He seamlessly blended into the background, making us feel completely at ease while still managing to capture every precious moment.
